Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026 · Effective: September 3, 2026

Template, not legal advice. This policy is drafted to be specific to how Habits of Data actually operates today, but it has not been reviewed by an attorney. Because this service collects login credentials for third-party platforms, have a lawyer review this (and the Terms of Service) before it governs real customer data — particularly around state-specific privacy law (e.g. CCPA/CPRA if you serve California residents) and any exposure tied to how those third-party platforms' own terms treat automated or credential-shared access.

Habits of Data ("we," "us," "our") provides an automated reporting service: with your permission, we log in to a business platform you use (such as Optavia, Herbalife, Mary Kay, or Beachbody) and retrieve reports on your behalf so you don't have to export them yourself. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's protected — especially the credentials you provide, since we know that's the sensitive part.

1. Information we collect

When you sign up, we collect:

  • Identity & contact information: first and last name, email address, and phone number (if provided).
  • Business context: the company you're affiliated with and your rank/position, if provided.
  • Platform credentials: the ID and/or email, and password, you use to log in to your company's platform. This is the login we use, on your behalf, to retrieve your reports.
  • Communication preferences: whether you've opted in to our newsletter.
  • Technical data: standard web request data (such as IP address and browser type) collected automatically by our hosting infrastructure for security and reliability purposes.

We do not collect payment card information through this site.

2. How platform credentials are specifically handled

Because this is the most sensitive information you give us:

  • Your password is encrypted immediately upon submission and stored only in encrypted form.
  • It is decrypted only transiently, at the moment our automated process needs to log in on your behalf to pull your reports — it is never stored or displayed in plain text anywhere else.
  • Every new signup is held for manual review before any account access happens — nothing runs automatically the moment you submit the form.
  • Access to decrypt or reveal a credential is logged.
  • We use your credentials for exactly one purpose: retrieving the reports you've asked us to retrieve. We do not use them to access any other part of your account, and we do not use your account on your behalf for anything else.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the reporting service itself — logging in and retrieving your data.
  • To communicate with you about your account, including service or billing-related messages.
  • To send you our newsletter, only if you've opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of our service.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information or your platform credentials, and we do not share them with third parties for their own marketing or business purposes. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who host our infrastructure or database, solely to operate the service, and who are bound to protect it.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, only if required by law.

5. Third-party platforms are not covered by this policy

Habits of Data is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Optavia, Herbalife, Mary Kay, Beachbody, or any other company you may select during signup. Providing us your login for one of these platforms is your voluntary choice and authorization. Your relationship with that platform — including its own terms of service and privacy policy — is between you and them, and is not something this policy covers or controls.

6. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as you remain a customer. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your stored credentials and personal information, except where we're required to keep limited records for legal, security, or accounting purposes.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have about you.
  • Request a copy of it.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Opt out of marketing communications (the newsletter) at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.

8. Cookies

This site uses a minimal set of cookies and browser storage needed to run it — for example, remembering your cookie preference. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy and our cookie banner will be updated to reflect it, and any non-essential cookies will only load after you accept them.

9. Security

Data you submit travels over an encrypted HTTPS/TLS connection. Platform credentials are encrypted at rest and only decrypted transiently to perform the report pull you've requested, as described in Section 2. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but protecting this information is a core part of how we've built this service, not an afterthought.

10. Children's privacy

This service is intended for adults operating a business and is not directed at, or knowingly used to collect information from, anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
